Mizoram is one of the most mountainous states of Northeast India and is characterised by a distinctive landscape of parallel hill ranges, narrow valleys, steep slopes, ridges, deep gorges and fast-flowing rivers . Its physical geography is closely related to the geological structure and geomorphic evolution of the eastern extension of the Himalayan mountain system. The physiography of Mizoram can be understood through its relief, geological structure, slope characteristics, drainage pattern and processes of erosion and denudation .
