Karbi Anglong is one of the most geographically distinctive regions of Assam and forms an important part of the hill landscape of Northeast India. The region is characterized by ancient geological formations, rugged hills, plateaus, valleys, forests, rivers and waterfalls. The Karbi Anglong Plateau represents one of the important upland physiographic regions of Assam. Geologically, it is associated with the ancient Peninsular block and is regarded as an extension of the northeastern projection of the Gondwana landmass .
